Eames House Addition

Drawing from an analysis of the Eames House in Santa Monica designed by Charles and Ray Eames, this studio addition to the Eames house relies on perspective to determine the form, wherein the elevations of the studio and house line up when viewed from a certain point. It shares the same embedded relationship to the hill as the original house, and maintains the clearing that was important to the Eames' when designing the original house. Unlike the orthodox house where the occupant enters from the lowest floor, the occupant enters from the second floor and descends to the first floor where the programmatic elements exist.
